Records on your phone

Pet names, species, care item names, dose labels, schedules, dose history and photos are stored in the app’s private storage. Enginery does not receive these records. You do not create an account. There is no live sync with another Android phone or with the iPhone app.

Backup and photos

If you enable Android backup, the Android operating system can back up the app database and its randomly generated caregiver identifier through your Google account. Android controls backup availability, timing, retention and restoration. Encrypted cloud backup is required on Android 12 and later. Database photo thumbnails are included; full-resolution photos are excluded from both cloud backup and device transfer. Restored pet profiles can display their thumbnails. We cannot access your Google account backup.

The system Photo Picker grants access only to a photo you select. The app does not request access to your photo library as a whole, camera, contacts or location.

Usage analytics

Release builds on real devices send limited product-usage events to PostHog in the United States over HTTPS. Events describe app screens, setup steps, notification permission changes, dose status changes and PDF exports. Their properties include counts, species, schedule modes, course duration, whether a photo exists, and the time difference between a scheduled and recorded dose, without sending the dose’s dates or times.

PostHog assigns a random installation identifier and may include technical context such as the app version, Android version, device model, screen dimensions, language and event timestamp. We do not associate this identifier with your name or email. No advertising identifier is requested. Session replay, automatic screen capture, automatic lifecycle events, deep-link capture and person profiles are disabled. Debug builds and detected emulators do not initialize analytics.

We never put pet names, medication names, dose labels, pet photos, caregiver identifier values or free text into analytics payloads. PostHog necessarily receives the network connection’s IP address; event requests disable location enrichment. We do not use these events for advertising or sell them. PostHog processes them for product analytics on our behalf.

PDF sharing

When you choose Export PDF, a report is generated locally. It contains the pet names, care item names, scheduled times, statuses and actual times in your chosen range. It leaves the app only when you choose a destination in Android’s share sheet. That destination handles the copy under its own policies.

Retention and deletion

Local records remain until you delete a pet or care item, clear the app’s storage or uninstall it. Deleting a pet also deletes that pet’s care items and dose history. Android backups and PDF copies you share are separate copies; use Google’s backup controls or the destination app to manage them. Uninstalling does not delete events already sent to PostHog. Analytics events may be retained for product analysis until they are deleted from our analytics project. Contact us with privacy or deletion questions. We do not collect your name or email in the app, so we cannot identify your installation from an email address alone.

Platform diagnostics

Google Play and Android may provide crash and performance diagnostics under your device and Google account settings. These can contain technical information about a crash or device. We do not embed pet records into diagnostic messages.

Children

The app is intended for adult pet caregivers. It is not directed to children under 13.

Policy changes

We will update this policy and its date when Android data practices change. Contact dpaola2@gmail.com with questions.
